19世紀末到20世紀初，可謂印象派及現代藝術發展的黃金時代，莫內、梵高、塞尚等大師，通通活在這個世代，留下不少傳世經典。眾位現代藝術大師的重要作品，下周將在倫敦同場上拍，作品大多罕見人前，其中領銜的莫內2米高鉅作《垂柳與睡蓮池》更是從未公開展出，以下為大家介紹這場超級拍賣。
專場名為《隱世異彩：私人珍藏重要印象派及現代傑作》，23件拍品全由同一位藏家所有，總估價超過£1億（HK$10億；NT$79億）。行方未有公布他的身份，只知道來自美國，但能夠將一眾大師的代表性作品一一收歸旗下，來頭肯定不少。

莫內在吉維尼的住處
先由領銜作說起，莫內（Claude Monet）2米高鉅作《垂柳與睡蓮池》，於1916年至1919年在吉維尼（Giverny）花園繪成，時值一次大戰，當時莫內已屆晚年。1914年一戰爆發，莫內經歷喪妻和喪子之痛，崩潰得無法作畫。數月後，與他份屬好友的法國政界巨人「法蘭西之虎」克列孟梭（Georges Clemenceau）前往吉維尼拜訪，希望他重新振作。克列孟梭曾兩任法國總理，領導法國取得一戰勝利。
豈料克列孟梭看到的莫內令他大感意外，沒有沉醉抑鬱，反而找到新的創作方向，開始創作一系列睡蓮畫作。《垂柳與睡蓮池》也是其中之一。即使戰爭爆發，甚至德軍迫近巴黎，莫內也沒有停止作畫。他甚至豪言，如果他們要殺我，我就與這些畫作一同受死。

《綻放的睡蓮》
《垂柳與睡蓮池》描繪一棵吉維尼花園內的巴比倫柳樹與池中睡蓮的互動。除了捕捉光影和色彩之外，更銳意畫出水面下的黑暗，估價£4,000萬（HK$4.1億；NT$15.8億）。
《垂柳與睡蓮池》原本由莫內兒子Michel擁有，從未公開展出。給大家一點資料，莫內同時期作品《綻放的睡蓮》，去年在紐約佳士得的洛克菲勒「世紀拍賣」以US$8,460萬（HK$6.6億；NT$25.2億）天價成交，創下莫內個人拍賣紀錄。

另一幅焦點拍品，要數現代藝術之父 - 塞尚（Paul Cézanne）的《靜物：桃與梨》，估價£2,000萬（HK$2億；NT$7.9億）。此畫繪於1885至1887年，當時他在法國南部普羅旺斯自我流放，為創作尋找新的路向，是塞尚創作生涯中一個重要時期。
畫中繪畫一盤色彩繽紛的水果。有別於一般印象派作品，試圖捕捉事物瞬間牽起的感覺。這位法國藝術家單純從理想中的繪畫邏輯，描繪自然世界。據講他繪畫此畫時，花了很長時間挑選水果，找出合適排位及角度，最後桃與梨的紅綠兩色帶出和階之感。法國著名印象派畫作藏家Ambroise Vollard向塞尚購下畫作，之後經歷數次轉手，過去40年從未登上拍賣場。

女子頭上鮮紅的蝴蝶結，臉頰也泛紅
《束紅髮帶的女孩：左側面半身像》繪於1885年，是梵高遊歷安特衛普（Antwerp）期間之作。這位荷蘭畫家初期愛以鄉村生活入畫，後來到城市遊歷生活，開始繪畫都市景貌和肖像畫。今次上拍的這幅繪畫，正是這段轉折時期的創作。
這段期間，梵高常參觀博物館，參考各大名家的風格，其中最受古典肖像畫大師魯本斯（Peter Paul Rubens）影響：用帶紅色彩繪畫人臉，就如畫中人粉色肌膚和頭上的鮮紅蝴蝶結。到後來巴黎時期，梵高畫作採用較鮮明色彩，相信亦是由此而起。此畫最初由梵高贈予好友Émile Bernard，自1945年以來從未登上拍賣場，近20年未作公開展覽。
雷諾瓦（Pierre-Auguste Renoir，1841-1919）《樹林裡的小徑》｜估價：£7,500,000 - £10,500,000
站在林中小徑的人，是雷諾瓦自己。
雷諾瓦（Pierre-Auguste Renoir）的《樹林裡的小徑》，繪畫巴黎市郊楓丹白露（Fontainebleau）的森林一景，是這位法國家畫的典型畫作。此畫繪於1874至1877年，當時雷諾瓦與莫內才舉辦了首次印象派畫作展覽。
楓丹白露是1820年代法國畫家的熱門繪畫地點。這種捕捉大自然互動的場面，常見於莫內後期的睡蓮畫作。畫中站在樹林中間的遊人，就是雷諾瓦自己。有學者認為，雷諾瓦是希望藉此映襯他在法國藝術史上的地位。
